Seasons Spring Seed Packet Holder

Here is the perfect spring card. It has a pocket up front that is the size of a seed packet. Anyone would be happy for receive a packet of flower seeds at this time of year.

The sentiment is a sticker matted on brown eyes paper - "Life Began in a Garden". The sentiment is flanked by copper mini brads.
Decorating the pocket are three stamps on stakes which are embossed with a wood grain folder. The stamps looks very much like seed packets themselves - the kind used to mark seed rows in the garden.

Here you can see that the pocket is only 1/4 inch deep. Actually there is plenty of room to for two packets of seeds.

The card is complete with a piece of ephemera or journaling card. This is a great place to add a handwritten sentiment and sign the card. Inspired by: Gloria Stengel.

Easter Bunny Pail

We are having Easter brunch at my house this year. My husband's nephew with 3 boys is going to be joining us. It is their first trip to the Houston area. In addition to the 3 boys, we will also have my 3 grandchildren. We will be having French Toast, sausage, bacon, fruit, etc. For whomever is still here later in the day, we are planning to put some hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. I'm not sure about this as this is my husband's domain. I never know what is going on the grill.
In addition to the brunch there will be a Easter egg hunt in the back yard. Since the age of the participants ranges from 1 to 9 years old, we have decided to color-code the eggs. Each child will have a color and is only supposed to pick up items of that color.
I tried to find baskets or pails in 6 colors, but couldn't find what I was looking for. The result is that I attempted my first vinyl project.

[

A friend of mine came over last week and gave me some tips on how to do vinyl on my Silhouette. I was shocked at how easy it was.

Puppy Dog Tails

I am always needing "Welcome Baby" cards. I have had this Photo Play paper for a little over a year now. I decided it was time to break the seal!
I was going to use the giraffe ephemera, but ended up with this puppy dog tails sentiment instead.

I used a Burniston die to make this puppy. There is a complimentary die set that had the dog bowl and bone.

Celebration Tag Accordion

I was asked to design something to show off the "Celebration" collection by Maja Designs. I just love the papers from this company. One thing that is really fun about this company is that they rarely discontinue paper collections - they just add onto them. As a result, there are always lots of choices of papers to coordinate for a project. I ended up using both sides of 10 different papers for this one.

Here is pic of the accordion with the belly band. Let's take it off and see what is inside.

There are four two-sided panels with pockets to hold lots of tags. When it is flips around it looks like this:

The tag bases come from 3 sources - Stamps of Life, Spellbinders, and a Silhouette file. There are 10 tags in all.

My favorite panel is the one that contains the dancers. They were too tall for the panel. I had to cut off their feet - what a waste. I ended up adding a strip with the feet across the top of the pocket. I didn't want to put a tag in the pocket, because they would be hidden behind it. I decided to make an acrylic tag with card stock border. Inspired by: Gloria Stengel.

Seasons Spring Shutter Card

This is the second card in my Graphic 45 Seasons card collection. This one is a shutter card. I think this is one of the easiest fancy folds to decorate. After matting all of the surfaces, it takes little else to make it look finished.
I used some ephemera for the sentiment "bless this nest". I added some butterflies punch from a retired Martha Stewart punch.
The center panel contains a "Spring" tag, a metal key, a chipboard embellishment, ivory organza ribbon, and more butterflies. I made a second card and matted the tag on brown, which was a big improvement.

I die cut this tag from a Spellbinders die, matted it and added an organza ribbon bow. This is a good place to sign the card. Inspired by: Gloria Stengel.

SunKissed Layout

Graphic 45's "Sun Kissed Collection" is used here to scrap some Destin Beach pictures.

An unusually shaped tag is made using two stickers from the coordinating sticker sheet. The "Set Sail" and "Fun in the Sun" tags are from the pattered paper. All three buttons from the sticker sheet were matted and ivory seam binding added .

A faux postcard was made using one of the 4 x 6 pictures. I place acetate over the picture, then used Stazon to stamp a postmark. I mounted a stamp sticker on a stamp die cut. The collage under the picture is made up of fussy cut images, mounted stickers, a bottle cap, a button with seam binding, and a couple small sea shells.

For the title I used a journaling card cut from the patterned paper. Another collage under this consists of matted stickers, burlap flower, a punched button, purchased flower, and a sea shell.

I trimmed a 1/2 inch ecru strip with fish tail cuts at each end and placed several banners across it. I used a strip from the patterned paper "Building Sand Castles and Memories" over the top of it. I finished it off with more flowers.

Two tags made using the patterned paper.

Tropical Blooms with Bubbles

A friend of mine celebrated her birthday yesterday. I made this card for her. She and her husband were here last evening. We had dinner on the patio and surprised her with a fun little strawberry short cake with a candle on top.

Card and Envelope

http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/
Sketch #177 by Heather Hall

When this card is opened, the insides twist and open showing 4 panels. This is a newish die from Karen Burniston. I watched a video in order to figure out how to make it. I was SHOCKED at how easy this was to construct.

The flowers are from Gina K's January release called "Tropical Blooms. They are made with a three-stamp process. The MISTI came in especially handy. The stamp on the card front was a two-stamp. The bubbles in the background are sponged with Gina K's Fresh Asparagus and a Dutch Doobadoo stencil. I may have gotten a little carried away with the bubbles. They were so much fun. I'm thinking that a few less and a little lighter might have been better.

The sentiment is separated between one of the twisted panels and a tag collage. The tags have white rick rack in the eyelets.

The peach was added with Gina K's Peach Bellini ink. There is NO patterned paper on this card. The color was added to the sentiments and hearts using ink and dauber. I used an ek bubble edge punch to make more bubbles -- because there weren't enough. TeeHee!

Just the envelope

Easter Bunny

These are the pictures from last Easter. I needed to get them in the book before taking new ones this year.

I love this sketch. You have all month to try it out, post it to the Sketch N Scrap blog, and then be entered for a prize.

Sketch #148
This page follows the sketch. I used Echo Park's "Easter" collection. The title is a new die cut from Stamps of Life. I purposely placed it above the word "bunny" on the word strip.

The word strip is continued on to the second page as a connector between the 2 pages. I die cut the year "2017" with a Burniston die and added it below the word Easter.

The bunny is "Lucky the Rabbit" - a die set from Burniston. I used some pink dotted swiss paper from the collection for the ears, nose and feet. The eggs on the layout are old dies from Echo park. I fussy cut mats for them.

I need to stop making personal rules. I have a no sticker rule, but here I am using them. I used the tree, a flower, and a pink bunny on this layout. The shiny flowers are also from a sticker set. The grass (Burnistion die) grounds the rabbit and the tree.

This is a flap.

I found this stamp - "The ears are the best part" at Hobby Lobby a week ago. It was on the clearance rack for 50 cents. It made me laugh, so I bought it. After stamping it I made a flap for it. I used a utility knife to slice a spot to pull the ears of a sticker bunny through. A fun place for one more pic was created. I placed 2 magnets - one behind the pic and one on the back of the bunny mat - to keep the flap closed.

Flap opened
