Apples for the Teachers - Apple on Inky Patchwork

Here is the second card to go in the teacher goodie bag that I wrote about yesterday. This is my first time using the Impression Obsession "Mini Pattern" stamps that I purchased last year - in August - I think. I stamped them on a Palette Mirror (looks a bit like a gelly plate) then stamped this onto white card stock. Essentially I created my own patterned paper.

Card and Envelope
I used the same technique to make the apples inside the card - adding a die-cutting step.

Apples for the Teachers - Worm Slider

The grandchildren start back to school on Monday. My daughter-in-law asked me to pick up the construction paper for their school supplies. I will probably take them up to their respective schools later this week. There is no way I am going to brave the first day of school for construction paper. Anyway . . .
I decided to put together a goodie bag for each of the teachers. The kids are in Pre-K and Kindergarten. I found the cutest stamp; bought two of them. They have a teddy bear with arms fully extended and say "Give Your Child A Hug For This Good Work!" I also picked up a book for each teacher. For the Pre-K teacher Let's Play Peekaboo! It is one of those lift-the-flap books. For the kindergarten teacher I Take Turns. Of course, I have to put a couple of homemade cards in the bag . . .
I couldn't resist using today's End of Summer Crop sketch:
Card and Envelope

Sketch #81

If that doesn't look like a slider card, I don't know what does. I saw apples instead of circles and a worm for the owl.

Take Time

This is the second military retirement card. (Check out the previous posting to see the first). For this one I stamped the ship on kraft card stock and colored the masts with white prisma colored pencil. The water is colored with indigo blue, then highlighted with white to form capped waves. The embossing folder is from Carta Bella. I dragged a white pigment ink pad over the embossing, allowing the compasses to pick up the ink.
Card and Envelope
The outside and inside sentiments are actually all one stamp, but I used the MISTI to stamp "Take time" on the front - ultimately separating it from the rest of the stamp.
I feel that the compasses and the ship give this card the naval feel.

The Best is Yet - Military Retirement

My mother-in-law called yesterday to ask if I was making homemade cards for my husband's brother's retirement. He is retiring after 33 years in the Navy. For this card I created a rectangle swing card using an Elizabeth Craft die. This button is one that I salvaged from an old article of clothing. Sometimes when the buttons are super fun, I remove them and place them in the button jar.

Card and Envelope

I love this Carta Bella "Old World Travel" paper. I have quite a bit of it in my stash. The old world map patterned paper and anchor stamp are perfect for a Naval retirement.
The gems were BRIGHT gold, so I used a Copic marker to give them a dull, antique look.

Check my next entry. I made another retirement card, which I will be blogging about tomorrow.

Product #6: Howdy Bluebonnets

This is a continuation of my last five blog posts using Die-namics Blueprint 18 and Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook paper pad. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the sixth and final solution:

The barbed wire border, the collage of bluebonnets and a rusty star give this card a true Texas feel. I used the small trapezoid to die cut the top of the card base front so the top of the inside of the card is visible when the card is closed.

A Touch of Gold

I hope you are joining us at Sketch~N~Scrap's End of Summer Crop on the Facebook page. There are 4 different sketches that you may choose to use as the framework for your creations. You do not have to have a blog to enter.
This card sketch is the second for this crop and it is a good one.
Card and Envelope

Card Sketch #58

My goal for this card was to use a very small amount of gold. I added a 1/4 inch strip with 3 gold gems.

The most important thing I want to talk about for this card is the new stamp set I am using. Actually it is 2 stamp sets with coordinating dies. Melanie Muenchinger of Stamp TV just released the die set for these stamps: A Year of Flowers 2 and Pressed Flowers 2. The Year of Flowers stamps a whimsical - loosely drawn outline of the flower, while the Pressed Flowers stamps fill it in with a rich layer of ink. When I opened my MISTI to reveal the Turquoise Sea in on this flower, I was thrilled with the results - money well spent.
I then heat embossed the center of the flower with gold powder. I also used my Versa Marker to draw a vein down the center of each leaf and embossed them as well.
The best part is that I didn't have to fussy cut it when I was through stamping. There are a total of 8 flowers in this set: daisy, tulip, rose, poinsettia, lily, and 3 more I'm not sure about.

Materials List:
Patterned Paper: Gina K Designs: Petite Patterns
     Card Stock: Black & White
Ink: Gina K Designs - Turquoise Sea
                           Jelly Bean Green
Stamps: Gina K Designs - A Year of Flowers 2
                                                Pressed Flowers 2

Product #5: Woodland Animals Tri-Fold

This is a continuation of my last four blog posts using Die-namics Blueprint 18 and Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook paper pad. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the fifth solution:

Closed Card
The trapezoids from the Die-namics Blueprint die were used to make the flaps for this tri-fold. The "Hello" circle acts as a flap to hold the card closed. I had a lot of fun using Karen Burniston's May release to make this card.

Product #4: Wildflowers

This is a continuation of my last three blog posts using Die-namics Blueprint 18 and Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook paper pad. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the fourth solution:

For this card I used a background stamp, then die cut it with 2 trapezoid dies. The paper on the banner is the same color as the stamped ink.

Product #3: Butterfly Spinner

This is a continuation of my last two blog posts using Die-namics Blueprint 18 and Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook paper pad. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the third solution:

 x =

With the circle die in the Blueprint, I thought a spinner card would be a perfect product for this die/paper combo. I found a focal image that was symmetrical. This butterfly was just the right size for the Blueprint circle. It took me a while to figure out how to make this card, but when I made the second one it was simple. My students were surprised how easy it was to construct .

Product #2: Texas Horses

This is a continuation of my last blog post using Die-namics Blueprint 18 and Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook paper pad. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the second solution:

For this card I cut a smaller card base - 5 1/2 x 3 1/8. I did this to accommodate the stars that I added on the fold of the card base.

Product #1: Porthole Snowman

Since teaching the Die-namics Blueprint 18/Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook class, I have decided to blog about each of the cards in the class. It works like an multiplication problem only there are many solutions to this. Here is the first solution:

X =

I started this card with a digital stamp from Lili of the Valley. It is a three part stamp called "Snowman Trio". Digital stamps are versatile in that they can be resized. I resized the stamp to the exact size needed to die cut it with the circle from the Blueprint die set. I colored it with Copic markers.

Lili of the Valley - Snowman Trio
I used a Darice embossing folder to emboss snowflakes and sanded the snowflakes to bring out the white from the inside of the paper. The wooden snowflake was super find at the Hobby Lobby after Christmas sales. It is stained with Walnut Distress Stain.

Eeyore's Kiss

I am finally getting a chance to scrapbook some pics from my visit to Disney in Anaheim. My fave character is Eeyore who I met at breakfast. As you can see, he was pretty happy to meet me as well.

I used this sketch from Sketch N Scrap. As usual there is a challenge on the blog and you are invited to participate. It is easy to link up your project and see if you are the lucky winner. Just try out the sketch below.

Layout Sketch #134

The Eeyore Mickey is a purchase from Etsy. I altered the bottom of it a bit. In order to have the tail swing back and forth on a black brad, I made my own svg file of a donkey tail.

I think I'm going to call this font "My Eeyore Font" from now on. It fits perfectly on this banner.
I have to mention the mini Eeyore punch. My husband gave it to me years ago. He brought my lunch to my classroom one day and I found it in the bottom of the bag. Surprise!!! I punched a few and added them to A+ papers This is the first time I've used it in my paper crafting.
I ended up making a complimentary page to extend it into a 2-page layout.

I added a fun tag to page 2. It goes behind the mat and is forced to stop when it meets the back strip. When you pull it, it is fun to see the yellow disappear.

I added a "Hidden Mickey" on the tag as well. You can't see it until you pull the tag. That makes 4 "Hidden Mickey's" on this 2-page layout. Can you find them all?
