Thankful for You

Karrie, from Scrappn Savvy gave me a stack of Moxie: Autumn Glory patterned paper. She asked me to design and kit a fall card for the Subs and a 6-Pack Class (Subway sandwich and 6 card projects). This is the card I came up with.

This paper had a distressed look with a collage of flowers and swirls in the corner. This isn't the sheet of paper a card maker usually grabs. I stamped and die-cut the leaves and sunflower from this paper. I also traced the lines on the leaves and sunflower with my Sakura gold gel pen to add a bit of sparkle.

For the inside of the card, I used the corner of the patterned paper.

Vellum Spider Web

I chose this sketch for my last bit of Mind's Eye "Spooked" patterned paper. I never saw the entire collection, but the 3 pieces that I did see were amazing. This paper is old; and Mind's Eye is no longer creating paper collections. So much for hoping for a re-release of this fun paper.

Sketch #4
The sentiment on the card front and the spider on the envelope are heat embossed with shiny black powder. Originally, I die cut the web in black, but alas the spider didn't show up. I recut the die using vellum and attached the vellum to the black by running it through the Xyron. The banners are made using an edge punch, then trimming at equal intervals.
Card and Envelope
The patterned paper you are looking at is from the scrap pile of "Boo Crew", an earlier project. If you look at the previous project, you will notice that I die cut stars from it. Well . . . . . . . . this is the scrap of paper with the stars cut from it.

Pumpkin Shape Card

I decided to try something a little different with this sketch. How would it look if all of the sketch elements were placed on a shape card? Here is the sketch from Sketch N Scrap for the World Card Making event.

WCMD 2017 Sketch #3
As you can see, I did twist the rectangle a bit and added some bling. I used one sheet of Moxie: Autumn Glory paper. It had a distress look with a collage of flower and swirls in the corner. I don't think this is the sheet of paper a card maker usually grabs. Not only did I use this paper for the pumpkin, but I also stamped the sunflower and "Happy Fall" onto it as well. The mat behind the sentiment is a quasi-solid that was the reverse side of the paper. The strip of leaves - well that was the border at the bottom of the sheet. (BTW: I haven't used the prefix quasi- for quite some time. I double checked the meaning and spelling to make sure I was using it correctly. It means almost.)

For the inside of the card, I used the corner of the patterned paper. I feel like I used this sheet of paper to the max. There was barely any left.

Owl in the Oak

Here is a fun fall birthday card using a Sketch N Scrap Fall Fun Crop sketch. Make your own card and enter it by downloading a picture of your card under this sketch. Click here to find just the right place to put it.

Sketch #2
I used my Copics to color this wise owl and then mounted him on a circle mat. I dug out the Die-namics Blueprint #18 again (You'd think I would have had enough of that die when I made 6 cards using it last month.) to make a background with a diagonal cut.
Card and Envelope
I love coloring these acorns using E27 on the top and W5 on the bottom. I then take the colorless blender (0) to make a plaid-like pattern on the top of the acorn.
Inside of Card
I colored two owls in case one wasn't good enough to put on the card. The second one turned out OK. I hated to waste him, so I put him on the back of the card.

The Boo Crew

I love this sketch. You have all month to try it out, post it to the Sketch N Scrap blog, and then be entered for a prize.

Sketch #138

I had a stack of Halloween pictures of my grandchildren in their costumes. I decided to use Karen Burniston's new Halloween dies and some treasured patterned paper to document them. Midnight the Bat - which includes the small bat - is one of Karen's older dies. The rest of the elements in the Halloween scene are from her new release.

Some of the fun tidbits are:
  • Title - I used my Cameo Silhouette to make this. The neat thing is that the "Boo!" is the die cut directly from the Big Shot. With the Silhouette PixScan Mat, I was able to make it fit onto the mats perfectly.
  • Stars - The stars are die cut from the "Spooky Stars" patterned paper.
  • House - The die has a stencil feature. I was able to sponge over the die to get the bricks on the house. I elected to tear the shutters to give a haunted look.
  • Patterned Paper - My fave part about this entire layout is the paper. There used to be a scrapbook outlet store in Destin, Florida. We vacation there every year and I looked forward to visiting this store. As of 2 years ago, it is no longer there. I got 5 sheets of this collection several years back and every time I pulled it out, I didn't want to cut into it to make one card. For this layout I used almost all of it. I used the scraps to create a Halloween card that I will be posting October 28.

The Tag
I know that I warned my Sketch N Scrap friends that I would be boring them with pics of my grandchildren. I was definitely right about that!!!

Dreaming of Snow

For this layout, I used a sketch from Let's Scrap Sketches. I've had it finished for a while, but I forgot to enter it and the deadline was yesterday. I'll just blog about it anyway.

I was planning to put a huge snowman head in the lower left corner with the snowman tipping his hat, but he just didn't look that great without his hat on. I ended up making my own Silhouette cutout of a snowman for this layout.

The snow globe is a a combination of two purchased Silhouette files. I used Karen Burniston's new snowman die inside the globe.

The hat and scarf on the title are from an old Elizabeth Craft Designs die.

The mittens are from Stamps of Life.
