Birthday Clown Car

Surprise! This card has this element. There is a hint as you can see a bit of a clown hat behind an acetate car window. When you give the card a pull ...

. . . out pop 3 clowns - all in different attire courtesy of Echo Park's "Birthday Boy" paper line. The perfect color pallet for a car full of clowns.

Art of Chess - Birthday Card

I have designed this card for a chess lover. The stamp set is made by Chocolate Baroque. Most of the papers are from my scrap box, so it would be a real challenge to make an organized supply list for this one.

What I can tell you is that I used Tim Holtz Lattice die to create the binding. I downloaded a chess board from the Silhouette website and cut it from cereal box cardboard. I used this as a mask with fired brick Distress Ink. The small squares under the metal bling are the pieces that fell out of the checker board.
For the background on the front, inside, and back I used a faux weathered wood finish. I did the scoring at 1/2 inch intervals on the front of the card. For the inside and the back, I skipped this step. I dragged a white pigment ink pad followed by Adirondack's expresso ink to give the wood look.

The clean-up for this project was brutal!

Hey, Cowboy!

Here is the card I made for my brother's birthday. I used acetate for the front card base. The recipient gets an immediate peak into the inside of the card. The sentiment on the front is strategically placed to hide the inside sentiment. This also provides a spot to write a short message.

Nautical Novice

This card was made as a thank you to my nephew for an extra special New Year's surprise that arrived at my door -- two bottles of sparkling wine.

I started off with a 6 x 6" red card base. I added 5 3/4" square of striped burlap, two layers of scalloped circles, and a heavily distressed red rectangle.
The card was embellished with the Memory Box Picket Fence, turquoise/white twine, wooden anchor and sailboat, and a turtle. The turquoise holey ribbon strip was a leftover from a mini album class I took last summer.
The focal point is the Lili of the Valley stamp "By the River".

Birthday - On the Fence

My sister-in-laws' birthday is on the first day of spring. It seems that I always make her birthday card with flowers because of this. Why should this year be any different?
