On the Farm

This faded piece of farm machinery needs some touch-up paint in John Deere green.

This is a birthday card for my oldest brother.  My mom used to tell how he would carefully arrange her throw rugs on the floor and systematically plow, plant, and harvest each field over and over with his toy John Deere tractors. He is a retired farmer and now has quite a collection of antique John Deere tractors. He tinkers with them all of the time. He loads them up repeatedly and shows them off at fairs and such.
These strips of green, embossed with different folders, reminded me of the throw rugs.
These stamps are all from High Hopes Stamps. They are the first I have ordered from this company. I thought they were such a good deal. If you mount them yourself you get them for a nice price.

  4. Hi Sharon! This card has so much personal meaning; I'm sure your brother will be thrilled! Love the cute images and what a great idea to emboss the different "throw rugs"; the idea really works to make them look like farm fields, too! Thanks for sharing your story and card with us at Cards In Envy's "Hip to be Square" challenge.

  6. I love it, Sharon! The inside of the card is just as fabulous as the outside! I love the "throw rug" planted hills!! I'm originally from Iowa so this brings back happy memories!! Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #7 and thank you for apologizing for not seeing the rules first. If there were prizes, you wouldn't be able to be in the draw, but there aren't any this time, so no worries about your entry! I appreciate that you found me again! Hugs, Darnell
