Here is a Karen Burniston die: "Cheepers, the Chicken". Cheepers is a bit surprised at the moment, but those eyes have that effect.
I used a faux wood grain background. To make it I scored the turquoise card stock every 1/4 inch and sawdust card stock every 1/2 inch. I dragged a white pigment ink pad with the score lines over the card stock. Then I lightly dragged a brown ink over top of that. It gives an unexpected look of wood.
