Autumn Calendar

Here is the Autumn calendar. It is made on a 5 x 7 base of Metallic Brown card stock. It is sitting on a  3-D embossed easel. The new embossing folders are amazing. They are especially beautiful on the metallic card stock. The months on the calendar are 2018 September, October, November and 2019 September, October, November.

I will be making 16 cards and 4 calendars with this Graphic 45 Seasons Paper. All of these SEASON cards can be made using:

  • one sheet of each of the patterned paper
  • one sheet of each of  Prints and Solids
In order to make All Seasons cards and calendars, you only need purchase the following items once:
  • Tags and Pockets
  • Chip Board

A Best Friend

It's going to be difficult sharing a specific supply list for this card. The paper is from two pieces that were handed to me -- a piece of patterned paper and a piece of solid. I know the solid is a navy blue Double Dot from BoBunny.

These two girls and sentiment are from a Stampingbella stamp set called I heart you. I colored this image using copics.

Skin: E000, 00,11, 04, R20
Red Hair: YR18, E08, E18
Shirt: Y11, 13, 15, 17

Skin: E50, 51, 53, 93
Blonde Hair: Y21, TR23, Y26, Y21
Shirt: BV12, 17, 25

Sketch #130 by Lisa Hidy
I turned the sketch a quarter turn and used this Sketch N Scrap sketch to add some interest to the papers I was given.
These hair colors are some new ones we used in my Copics class. I think this is the best red hair combination I have used so far. I find red hair too red and hard to blend, but this combo was a breeze. I love blonde hair. This combo was most unusual when I was told we would be using it, but I am very happy with the way it turned out. I liked it so much that I have already used it twice more since the class.
This stamp set has a coordinating "Polaroid: Cut It Out" die.

Autumn Shaker

Here is a shaker card using the Autumn Season's Greetings paper from Graphic 45. The shaker is built over a piece of ephemera. It is difficult to see in the picture, but the filling for the shaker is Michael's "Fun in a Jar". I bought this 3 jar set a couple of years ago. It came in several colors. I bought the brown and the turquoise. I truly regret not buying every single color that they had. When you move the card the 3 different types of filler each react in its own individual way. The spherical pieces roll around, while the flat circles grab the light.

The frame around the shaker is made using brown metallic paper which is embossed with a 3D folder. The metallic paper catches the light. Two corners of the frame feature a fussy-cut sunflower and feathers. The ivory bow made of seam binding softens the card as do the brown pearls.

The inside of the card is an ephemera card, with a fussy-cut edge. Under the upper left corner is the center of the frame from the card front. It is diagonally cut and used as an accent. The brown and white stripe is trimmed on the diagonal.

Autumn Patchwork and Feathers

When I first saw this Autumn paper, my eyes went straight to the feathers. I immediately ordered various feathers to put on this card.

I popped the "Golden Days" ephemera and popped a fussy cut collage of flowers and a pumpkin. I tucked the feathers behind the fussy cut items.  The "Thankful" and "harvest" tags are one from the patterned paper and one from a sticker.

This is the easiest patchwork background. it is composed of 1 1/2 inch squares spaced 1/8 inch apart. I used 6 different patterned papers.

Originally this card was 6 x 6, but when I completed it, there was too much extra space. I took it apart and trimmed 1 inch from the left side and put it back together again. When I started working on the inside of the card that 1-inch piece of patchwork was just laying there on the table looking perfect, most because it was already completed. When I taught this in my class, we actually made the 6 x 6 patchwork and trimmed the inch off, reserving it for the inside. Why change a working procedure!
I added a piece of ephemera. This one leaves a nice place to write a note and sign the card.

Dance Recital

I attended my 4 year old granddaughter's 1st ballet dance recital in July. I have to say there wasn't really much dancing going on, but there were no tears, so it registers high on the success scale -- even higher on the cuteness scale. I purchased the pink rose seen in the photos. At the end of the evening she said that the best part was the dancing and the flowers.

I started with this sketch from Sketch N Scrap.

I found this paper on Scrapbook.com. It seems that Echo Park has designed some mini paper collections for special activities like dance, baseball, football, etc. There are only three or four 2-sided papers and coordinating stickers in the kit.
As luck would have it, Elena was dressed as Cinderella, and one of the ephemera cards said, "Forget the glass slippers; this dancer wears ballet shoes." I placed this card in one of the photo spots.
The solid purple paper is old, old, old. I found it years ago at Joann's on clearance. I bought a bunch of it and it is almost gone. It has mulberry running through it, so it appears to be cloth.

I added a removable tag. This is actually two stickers - one on top of another and matted on black. I used a white gel pen to write "1st" and "Recital" on the tag. I also added the date.

When you turn the tag over I added a pic of Elena immediately after the performance.

The title is a collage of Silhouette files. I had a fun time dressing up that ballerina teddy bear. I found the ribbon, butterflies and flowers in my stash.
