Celebration Blooms

I just love this Gina K stamp set. I was able to use Lisa Hidy's sketch for this card.

Card Sketch #150 by Lisa Hidy

I stamped the jar and handle and one large bloom on the card. I added some leaves and other greenery. I finally stamped four flowers on separate paper. I used Copics to color all 3 flowers, plus two extras for the inside of the card. I used blues to give the jar depth.
The stamp that looks like paint splatter makes the entire stamp worth every penny.

TN: The Ballet

Huey and I got an invitation to attend the ballet with the members of our diner group. We saw "Marie", which depicts the life story of Marie Antoinette. We enjoyed complimentary beverages and hor d'oeurves. We were treated to a backstage tour and got to stand on stage looking out into the seats. In this pic, we are up on scenery used for the presentation.

TN Sketch #6 by Lisa Hidy

I know that I had committed to using Bo Bunny's "Calendar Girl" collection for my traveler's notebook this year. I absolutely could not resist digging DEEP in the closet for an envelope of Graphic 45's "Gilded Lily" leftovers. I taught a class using this paper back in 2016. I had quite a bit of it left and had a good time making a journal page using this collection.
I loved the fact that this journaling card was titled "AN INVITATION". I am quite partial to the drawings of Marie Antoinette scattered throughout this paper. I framed 3 of them in this layout with doilies.
I am entering this in Lori's "HOT" challenge, using items that start with these letters.
  • H = hats
  • O = on-stage
  • T = tag (my husband said I should use torture) He didn't really like the ballet. I think he was a little shocked that there were absolutely NO words in the entire production.

Love you MOM

The picture on this layout was taken right before church at my daughter's church in Fort Worth. They always set up a place for photos on Mother's Day. I was there last year for Brooklyn's dedication and got to be in the pic. That pic is in Brooklyn's baby book.

Sketch #180 by Lisa Hidy

I started this layout by making the flowers to match the patterned paper.  I cut toilet paper rolls open, fringed one end, and rolled them up to make a paint brushes. I loaded each up with acrylic paint and twirled it onto the paper - letting each color dry before adding another (a heat tool speeds up this process) I then die cut a flower from each swirl of paint.

This pic shows before I added the white paint.
After die cutting the flowers, there were flower centers laying on the table. They were hexagon-shaped. I die cut extra centers from the patches of paint left on the paper. I used these and a white pen to make the 2 flourishes.

Finally, I added a different type of brad to the center of each flower.
