Life in Flip Flops

Here is a card made entirely from scraps. My daughter had an end-of-school gift that she wanted to put together for her class. She asked me to help out by making some boxes and envelopes to put prizes in.
The envelopes needed to be made from patterned paper rather than card stock. I ended up shopping at Hobby Lobby for the paper. When I got done die cutting the envelopes and boxes, I had so many pieces of ~4 x 12" paper. It just seemed like such a waste. I ended up making 13 of these cards. I gave them to my grandchildren to give to their teachers with a pair of sandals to wear this summer.

Sketch # 148 by Lisa Hidy

Here is the inside of the card. I love this sentiment!!!

Have you seen my LapDog? I have had it for several years. It is perfect for assembling projects that I need multiples of. Here you can see it loaded up with the pieces to make the 13 cards.

Here you can see all of the cards completed and no pieces left.

13 completed teacher cards.
Here is a picture of 24 of each of the envelopes and boxes. There are 3 different pieces for each student.

TN: Journey Joy

We have been so very busy traveling in our RV. We are only home 2 days this week from a 5 day trip to Round Rock, TX (for Triple A baseball games) and off again today to Shiner, TX (to  tour the brewery and all) for 4 days. I used the sketch to construct the background for this before the Round Rock trip. I didn't even know what pics I would be using.

TN Sketch #5 by Lisa Hidy

When I got back from Round Rock, I decided to use these pics from that trip. We were originally planning to stay in a RV park right across the street from Dell Diamond, but when we got there we were sorely disappointed. Even thought there were full hookups, it was not very well-kept. Thankfully Huey had a plan B. We ended up at few miles down the road at Berry Springs RV Park in Georgetown, TX and it was wonderful. There was a secret entrance across the road from the park into the Berry Springs Park and Preserve. It had miles of paths lined with wildflowers for walking, running, or biking. We were able to sneak in two long bike rides.

I placed back-to-back pics of Huey and I on our bikes into the pocket. You can see my hidden element below. If you tug on the yellow velvet heart brad, you can read the secret message: "I Can and I Will".
I just noticed that I do not have a title. Hmmmm I guess that is just going to have to be OK. We are out the door to Shiner!

Autumn Seasons

Here is the 3rd of the four Graphic 45 Season's layouts, I am creating. Still working on those leftovers from my 2018 card class. I am very happy with the way this one turned out, but I am not liking the Halloween costume pictures on it. I feel like the pictures should be Pumpkin Patch or other pics with Autumn backgrounds. Anyway here it is:

Sketch #178 by Lisa Hidy
I can't believe with Lisa Hidy's super busy May schedule, that she was able to take the time to come up with this amazing sketch. I would have expected something with a hurried look. But no, here is a fabulous sketch with tons of opportunity - a banner, journaling spot, and a place made for a pocket. I will definitely be using this one again.

Here is a pic of it before I put the pictures on it.

How about these cute little bows? You know you pic this stuff up on a whim (Tuesday Morning) and they sit in your craft room for years. You pull them out periodically only to place them back in the drawer, because they just aren't what you are looking for at that moment. Then one day you are so thankful that you picked them up. This is that day for these bows.

I made a couple of mini folders for additional pictures, which I placed in the pocket.

The back of the mini folders.

The fun thing is that 2 of my crafting buddies are coming over to my house in a couple of  weeks to make this layout for their own use. I have soooooo much of this paper left and this will be a good way to use up some more of it.
