Summer Pen Nib Butterfly

I found some Tim Holtz Pen Nibs just as I was starting this project. I knew I had to use them on one of the cards. Summer seemed the perfect time.

I started with a sketch from Lili of the Valley, but I veered away from it a bit.

The spellbinders butterfly die that I used had a solid and a filigree butterfly. I used my bone folder to give the butterfly some shape.

With all of the extra pieces that accompany this collection, it is fun to make pockets in order to add more of it to cards. I made a hidden pocket behind the "Sunkissed" panel and placed a tag from Tags and Pockets in it. I placed the pocket on the horizontal panel, then placed the "Sunkissed" panel over it, so that it just peeked out.

For the inside of the card, I used the leftover strip from the front, a stamp, an ephemera post card, a tag sticker, and fussy cut some purple flowers.

I will be making 16 cards and 4 calendars with this Graphic 45 Seasons Paper. All of these SEASON cards can be made using:

  • one sheet of each of the patterned paper
  • one sheet of each of  Prints and Solids
In order to make All Seasons cards and calendars, you only need purchase the following items once:
  • Tags and Pockets
  • Chip Board
  • Ephemera
  • Stickers
  • Season's Patterns and Solids
Stay tuned for more cards this year.

Make a Fairy Wish

Wanted to make a birthday gift card holder today. I was going to get out some NEW paper, but my "Fairie Dust" scraps from Graphic 45 were sitting on top. I decided this was the perfect time to use up some scraps.

This sketch from Sketch N Scrap was just what I needed to couple with a Stamps of Life tag/gift card holder die that I had. I have to mention the new Graphic 45 die that I used to make this flower. If you are looking for a die to make beautiful flowers to go with patterned paper - this is just the ticket! I love the way it looks inked up. There are 4 sizes of flowers in this die to stack/group as you please. I used my flower shaping kit and WOW - I loved the way they shape up. The metallic brad in the center is a great addition.

These Pixie Sprites are on the back of the tag.

The ribbon isn't necessary to hold the gift card on the tag, but it looks nice there.

I counted myself lucky to have a bit of ephemera that had a sentiment regarding wishes to compliment the front of the card. I die cut stamps and popped the centers.

Sweet Summer Pocket Card

This card is made using the Graphic 45 Seasons Collection. It is a 5 x 6 card with a pocket in the front. I used 4 1/4 inch strips of different widths to make the patchwork across the background. All of this is placed on Metallic card stock mats with an ivory card base.

Front of Card
The pocket was formed with a paper from the Patterns and Solids pad. It is edged with a strip from the sticker sheet and crocheted lace.

Inside of Tags
There are two tags of equal size in the pocket, but they open differently. I used the patterned paper, tags & pockets, and ephemera to cover them. "The SWEET taste of SUMMER" (sentiment) was shaped into a wave using a bone folder and attached at the middle and ends.

Happiness Blooms From Within

I have signed up for an 8 x 8 page swap. For this swap there are rules:
  • Must use Simple Stories Bloom Paper Collection
  • Must use a piece of Washi Tape
  • Must use a sticker from the Collection

There are 12 crafters in the morning swap and 12 crafters in the evening swap. I decided I had to have ALL of the swap pages so, as usual, I signed up for both swaps. I completed the first page of the swap a couple of weeks ago using Birthday Bash Sketch #5. I finished a complementary layout this weekend using Sketch #154, which I reversed. Both of these sketches are by Lisa Hidy from Sketch N Scrap

http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/  http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/

I decided to use this layout for some Easter pics of my youngest grandchild. She was wearing one of the dresses I had gotten for her birthday.

I placed the washi tape down the left side. The sticker I chose was a banner. I placed it on a black mat and used black brads on each end. For the title I made two pockets and die cut 2 stitched tags from Stamps of Life. There is a piece of 3 x 4 ephemera that has the sentiment "happiness blooms from within". I used one line on each of the tags saving the last for the right page.
I had just gotten this dandelion die a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to use it. I added glittery gems to the center of each.

Several elements from the first page are repeated on the second: the washi tape with a 1/8 inch Flamingo border, the dandelions with gem centers, Flamingo tags with titles, the same patterned papers from the collection, and green seam binding on each tag.
For stickers on the right page, I used the 3 arrows. I had to cut each one to make it appear that it was long enough to go behind the oval embellishment I made with punches.

Here is the 3 x 4 ephemera card that I trimmed to make the titles. I also used an oval punch of these flowers to make the center of the tag embellishment.
