Lighthouse on the Waves

     I have been making cards using the components of Carta Bella's "Old World Travel". For this card I used the embossing folder - Compass. 
     I used the embossing folder in a unique way. I did a wax paper technique.

1. Trim 2 pieces of heavy card stock to 3 3/4 x 5 inches.
2. Cut a piece of wax paper slightly larger.
3. Wad / crinkle the wax paper, then flatten.
4. Emboss the wax paper using an embossing folder.
5. Sandwich the wax paper between the 2 pieces of heavy card stock. Fold a piece of printer paper in half. Place the sandwich inside and onto a hard surface capable of handling high temperatures.
6. Pass an iron set to the highest setting over the printer paper with the wax paper sandwich inside. 
7. Discard the wax paper keeping track of which side of the heavy card stock was next to the wax paper. 
8. Distress the card stock with any distress ink. 

     This makes a fun background. I made a "great divide" using the wave stamp from Gina K's: Ship to Shore. I used ribbon and a wood ship's helm as embellishments.

Vacation Planner for Savvy Challenge

     For the April Savvy Challenge, patrons of the Scrapp'n Savvy in Spring, Texas were asked to use a Clear Scraps chipboard shape. I chose the Eiffel Tower.

     I designed this tri-fold folder to organize my next trip. It could also be used to outline my daily activities as I travel. Sometimes when I return home it is hard to remember which day I did certain activities. I then could use it as a scrapbooking reference. 
      For the cover I stamped ivory heavy-weight card stock using "Victorian Floral" from Carta Bella. This stamp is part of the newest paper line currently on display at Scrapp'n Savvy in Spring, Texas called "Old World Traveler".
     This background technique is called "Parisian". Simply heat emboss your favorite floral stamp with shiny silver embossing powder (or gold if you prefer) and distress with 3 or 4 inks. I used silver and randomly distressed it with Weathered Wood, Broken China, Pumice Stone, and Antique Linen. 

     I used these 5 steps to get a gunge effect on the Eiffel Tower:

1. Cover with 2 coats of white Gesso.
2. Cover with black Gelato - spread with wet wipe.
3. Place Dutch Doobadoo burlap stencil over chipboard and wipe black Gelato away.
4. Place Huey's Mask - Chevron over chipboard and cover liberally with Versa Mark.
5. Sprinkle with shiny silver embossing powder and heat emboss.

     The other stamps are from "You Say Goodbye and I Say 'Ello" by Gina K. 

      The folder is made with a 12 x 12 extra-heavy card stock. Here is a diagram to score and cut card stock into a tri-fold. The pages are held together with 6 silver eyelets and 3 silver brads. This fold also makes 3 small pockets behind the planning pages. 

     Here is a diagram with score and cut lines. After cutting away at the red lines, fold the 1/2 inch score line and add 3 evenly spaced eyelets. Fold up the 3 1/2 inch score line and add 3 more eyelets. Make sure they are lined up with the last three. Choose your vacation organizational forms. Hole-punch them so that they also match up with the eyelets. Now place the sheets in between the eyelets and secure with brads thru both eyelets and the forms.
     I got the planning pages from free downloads at this website: I Should Be Mopping the Floors. There are a weekly planner, a daily planner, and several versions of packing lists.

Hey Little Lady

     Time was getting the best of me today. I needed a card using a sketch for the Mix-It-Up Monday Stamp TV challenge and had almost no time to work on it. I closed my eyes and reached into my Gina K designer paper and pulled out "Summer Brights". I used the same procedure to choose a stamp set and got "Lovely Ladybug". This is the sketch Silke Ledlow assigned for the challenge.

 

      I completed this card in 20 minutes, including the inside and a little somethin' for the envelope.

Bible Journaling - Luke 24:36-39

     I have joined a bible journaling group. Tonight was our second meeting. We study 3 scriptures each meeting. I worked on the first one at group. I plan to make time to journal the other two readings on my own. 

     It's hard to read the words on the green. It says: Jesus is here. He sees. He hears. He knows. Celebrate his presence.

     I used the Gina K stamp set: Year of Flowers 3.
