Vintage Cars

I put this card together yesterday for a friend from our dinner group that is celebrating a birthday.
I started with one of Lili of the Valley's trio stamp sets. The car on the front flap is part of an older Lili of the Valley stamp called "Toot Toot". I colored the front of the card from that one and placed it on a vintage map mat.

Card and Envelope

Previously, I have always made cube-shaped box cards and I have cut them on the trimmer and scored them myself. I purchased this box card die from Stamps of Life. I believe it is fairly new. I particularly liked working with it, because it makes larger mats on the front flap and back of card. There is also more room to spread out the goodies that are going in the box. Usually the side flaps (which are now smaller) are secondary anyway.

Clocks and gears are always good filler for masculine cards so I added a few of those. I also used these on the side flaps.

Back of Card
I always decorate the back of my box cards with scraps that are left on the table.

Envelope
I die cut Tim Holtz's "Jalopy" for the envelope. The stamp giving it motion is a flourish from a floral stamp set.

Sleeping Baby

A friend of mine is going to be a grandma again. This inspired me to make a baby boy card. With this card I am playing along at the Back to School Crop. You can join in as well. Cards are not due until the end of the month. Just download a pic of your card under this sketch on the Back to School Crop page on Facebook.

Sketch 86
The stamp for this card is 1/3 of the Lili of the Valley "Baby Trio" stamp set.

Card & Envelope
I made the mistake of coloring the image before choosing my paper, so I had to stamp and color again. Rookie mistake - lol.

I framed the baby with a scalloped mat, then pop dotted it to a homemade tag. I ended up turning the tag upside down, because I liked the way the diagonal at the tag top looked next to diagonally placed wooden letters.
You will notice in the materials list that I used some Christmas paper. You might wonder where this Christmas paper is. The answer is the turquoise matting is the back of a countdown to Christmas paper. I got a package of 25 sheets of it at Tuesday morning and placed on the pile of turquoise solid card stock. I am officially down to 6 pieces left - yes, I walked across the room to take inventory.

Inside of Card

The inside of the card is made with scraps left on the table. How about that Joe Houldsworth quote? Couldn't have asked for a better sentiment: "the ONLY thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child". I decided to look this bloke up and see who is making these wonderful quotes about babies. It seems that he is from Australia (if I have the right gentleman) and this is the ONLY quote of his that I could find with a google search. Interesting!!!

Materials List:
Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy - Christmas Winter Wish
                              Studio Calico - Storytime
     Card Stock: Bazzill - Honeycomb
                                   Ivory

Card and Envelope

Card Sketch #105
I just received these Lili of the Valley Trio stamps, which are perfect for this sketch. They are called "Vintage Motor Trio". The rear end of an old jalopy on the envelope is an old die of Tim Holtz. I used the front end on the inside of the card. The little black polka dots on the front of the card, fell out of the large gear and onto the card. Happy accident!!!

Dad's Goin' Golfin'

Here's a Graphic 45 blast from the past. This paper has been discontinued for quite some time. I found it in the clearance bin at the scrapbooking store. It is from the Good 'Ol Sport Collection. The plaid just made me think of golfing.

The image is from Lili of the Valley. The men in my family love to golf. My husband is always looking for the perfect club to improve his game.

The color was added with Copics:
          Skin: E000, 00, 33, R20
               Hat/Pants: E21, 23, 25
               Hair: E25
               Shoes: W0, 1. 3, E23
               Bag: YG91, 93, 95, 97
               Grip: YG91, 93
               Shirt: BG72, 75
               Clubs: Irons - C1, 3, 5
                         Wood - E23, 25
               Grass - YG03

To make the sentiment I punch red buttons from the Martha Stewart button punch. I die cut the smallest circle from Our Daily Bread "Stitched Circles". The letters are also punched from the Martha Stewart Alphabet Punches.
